The Five Faces Health platform is an efficient scheduling, content management and monitoring system with significant customisation options to meet your specific requirements. The platform will operate on any Android, Windows or Apple device. This section provides a basic introduction to performing simple scheduling and content activities on your network using the platform. Contact us for more in-depth information or a live demonstration.

Logging In

The Five Faces Health platform is an enterprise software platform based on Amazon Web Services hosted across key regions – Australia, Singapore, Ireland and the US – on a distributed network. We can manage the largest of networks across geographical boundaries and deliver you a service with over 99.99% uptime. Any planned upgrades or unplanned downtimes will not impact the content on devices, only access to the server.

Logging into your platform is as easy as visiting the website (http://signage-central.com/mds-server) and entering your login details. Login uses updated SSL to maintain security throughout the entire login process and use of the system. Ensure to log out once complete. Upon logging in you will see a snapshot of your network, including the number of sites, media files and users on the system. You can also access to some quick functions such as adding media files and scheduling. Watch the login process video below.

Monitoring Systems

You can view all of your devices from the Player section. Here you will see a list of all your players, details about each and a traffic light (green/red) to let you know if they are online or offline. Clicking on the traffic light will bring up live hardware statistics on the player so you can see key health information such as hard drive, processor load, temperature and IP addresses of the device. Email alerts can be set to trigger notifications upon hardware health issues.

A player can be restarted from this menu directly. One of the many powerful features of the platform is an ability to schedule screens to turn on and off at different times. Finally, a report can be created for a player, letting you know of any downtime.

Another advanced function of the Five Faces Health platform is the ability to connect multiple screens to an individual player. Watch the below video on monitoring systems.

Managing Media Files

The Five Faces Health platform acts as a central repository for all media files on your network accessible via the media file section. This section contains all the media files uploaded and their associated details. Files can be grouped and filtered as required, downloaded for viewing and reporting. A standard proof of play report will show the number of times the file has played across the network with a breakdown of how many times it played on each screen. Watch the Managing Media Files below.

Third Party File Upload

The Five Faces platform gives administrators ability to authorise third parties to upload and manage a media portal of their own. This access will only allow them to upload and view media files as they require, while the administrator will remain in control of scheduling on the network. Multiple portals can be created for different parties, eliminating the need for large file sending, Dropbox and other file transfer requirements. This feature allows a more collaborative approach in media file creation and distribution.

Scheduling is one of the most powerful capabilities on the Five Faces platform. You are given the ability to:

  • Schedule files/groups of files on one, multiple or all screens at various times.
  • Set priorities to allow immediate changes
  • Delay distribution of files to after hours/before hours as required by IT policies
  • Email yourself a list of sites that did not receive content with a certain time period.
  • Create playlists of media files for scheduling and allow specific media files to only play at specific sites.
  • Monitor the files being sent to a site ensuring playback and place alerts.
  • View the created schedules in a simple calendar view.
  • Set timings that can be different on each site. The Five Faces platform deals with daylight savings and time zone differences.
  • Set earlier expiry time for allocated media files and extend/copy campaigns with just one click.

We pride ourselves on providing an intuitive platform which is easy to use and most importantly, will carry out a range of tasks suited to your specific needs. The Five Faces platform is a cloud-based enterprise software needing minimal infrastructure, network and IT requirements to setup. In fact, most of our clients do not need training to use the platform due to its intuitive nature. This section is for technical personnel looking to understand how the platform works.

What Hardware Is Required?

The Five Faces platform requires a smart device (typically referred to as a player). These devices can be Android, Windows or Apple powered devices with both benefits and drawbacks of selecting one or the other. Android is the lowest cost and easiest to deploy option but lacks the advanced features and integration capabilities that Windows-based devices possess. These smart devices can be separate players or can be part of the kiosk/screen. Five Faces supplies players with our software already configured, ready for plug and play or we can offer you more guidance on choosing devices.

These players can then connect to any visual device (screen, projector, touch screen etc) to complete the installation.

What Type Of Network Connection Do I Require?

The Five Faces Health platform can run on any network connection. All systems do not have to be on the same VPN or network. An ADSL2+ connection with a fixed line will ensure the optimum experience with the least network difficulties. However, a large volume of systems using the Five Faces platform run on 3G/4G networks.

All files scheduled on the platform will cache on the local devices, which allows all schedules and media to play correctly even if the system is offline. Any new files or schedules will not sync when the system is offline but any existing schedules will play as expected until the end date. A listener will manage intermittent network connections and attempt to re-download files if corrupted due to a low-quality internet. A checksum process ensures media file integrity prior to playback.

Are there any ports, firewalls or other security setups I need for the Platform to work?

As long as the player devices are allowed access to the internet (standard web browsing), there is no need for any firewall or other network security adjustments. Password proxies and website restrictions can cause data feeds and other cloud data-driven content to work incorrectly, so it is often recommended to allow devices through the proxy or in a DMZ environment if available. If this is not possible, Five Faces Health can provide the list of all websites to authorise through the proxy to ensure the platform operates appropriately.

What is the security on these systems?

The Five Faces Health platform uses updated SSL security for all connections on the server side and communications, providing the highest level of security for web based applications. Kiosk applications, where customer data is stored, can be accessed using a two-stage certificate authentication process: namely, a username and password for the login as well as an authorised certificate that must be installed on the device connected to the server.

On the player side, there is a black box and white box environment option. The black box environment is where you provide us with the internet access and we manage the security side. The operating system environment is locked down so that no user can access the operating system without correct authentication and daily virus scanners ran. The internal device firewall is only set to allow the platform to communicate out, significantly reducing the ability of third party programs to be run or access the network through the device. Finally, we manage Windows updates remotely after they have been proven to be secure and stable. Please be aware, Android devices are secured only at the operating system level.

The white box approach is where we configure and image the devices to fit within your security policy. We work with your IT team to ensure the right software and security features are enabled and functioning to integrate the device into your IT Security environment. We then keep an image of this environment so we can deploy it across your network accordingly.

What about my data and its security?

We have a strict and comprehensive security policy to keep your data secure. Access our security policy here.

Can I host your platform internally?

Yes, but this is not recommended. Contact Five Faces if you wish to host the network internally and do not want to utilise the cloud-based services.

What is your SLA for Hosting?

We provide a 99.98% uptime guarantee for our servers and assure our clients any server side issues will not affect current schedules or media playing on your screens. Schedules and content are cached to manage this potential problem and we have never had downtime on our network. Scheduled outages for software updates are done outside standard hours and are regionalised to ensure minimal disruption.

I Want To Do A Technical Pilot Before I Commit.

That is not a problem. Get in touch with us today and we will organise a pilot for you to ensure you are satisfied with our software and service.
